Early Childhood Literacy Programs

According to research, a child’s learning skills developed from birth to age six are crucial for their success in school and life as 90% of a child’s brain is developed before kindergarten. More than half of children are not ready for Kindergarten. However, in Gwinnett County, only 67% of third graders read at or above the target level, and those not able to read at grade level by third grade are four times more likely to drop out of high school. To combat this issue, Gwinnett County Public Library offers programs aimed at supporting early literacy skills. By investing in our Early Childhood Literacy Fund, you can help us continue to tackle education gaps in our community and foster early literacy.

Lifelong Learning

Gwinnett County Public Library is dedicated to providing a wide range of inclusive and accessible educational, cultural and vocational opportunities to individuals of all ages and backgrounds. It ensures residents have the resources they need to pursue their personal, educational, or career ambitions, contributing to their personal life journey and overall community growth. The Foundation supports expansion of the library’s diverse programs, including author programs, lectures, presentations, classes, and workshops, through partnerships and initiatives backed by private philanthropic support. Consider making a donation to help expand these opportunities.

Career Online High School

Gwinnett County has 70,000 residents, aged between 18 and 64, without high school diplomas, and these individuals are twice as likely to live in poverty. Addressing this, scholarships are offered for the Career Online High School (COHS) program, designed to help adults earn high school diplomas and improve their careers. The program, which is flexible and provides continuous academic guidance, begins with career-related subjects before moving onto core academic ones. It is especially advantageous for individuals who didn’t finish high school due to various reasons.

Your gift to the Technology & Collection Enhancement Fund ensures that the library can provide continuous free access to the best educational and informational resources of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. By donating here, you will be providing the library with the ability to purchase the latest and greatest technology for our community to use.

Welcoming and Engaging Spaces

Investment in imaginative, captivating, and inclusive environments provide more than just a room for shelves, but strategic spaces that foster community and innovation as well as collaboration and belonging.

While advancing learning for residents of all ages, Gwinnett County Public Library provides a place for residents to come together in ways that they might not otherwise.
