From storytime for our youngest visitors to hands-on history, genealogy, and cultural presentations, there’s something for everyone.

Early Literacy | Statue of Liberty Storytime – Saturday, August 1 from 11 am – 11:30 am
Join us for a patriotic storytime just for the little ones! Designed for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.

Genealogy | Find your Revolutionary War Ancestors – Saturday, August 1 from 11 am – 12 pm
Discover library resources that will help you to find a family connection to the American Revolution.

Culinary Arts | Butter Making – Saturday, August 1 from 12 pm – 1 pm
Explore the history of butter in US cuisine and get hands-on making some!

Culture | Haints, Saints, and Sinners – The Timelessness of Gullah Geechee Culture and History – Saturday, August 1 from 1 pm – 2 pm
Celebrate America’s 250th with an engaging presentation about the Gullah Geechee communities in Georgia.

Education | Stamp Act – Saturday, August 1 from 3 pm – 4 pm
Learn about the Stamp Act of 1765 and take part in creating your own stamps.

Hands on History: Let Freedom Ring – Saturday, August 1 from 12 pm – 6 pm
Step back in time and get your hands on history as we discover how everyday colonists -kids included- helped ignite a revolution.

Petals of the Past, Roots of the Future – Saturday, August 1 from 12 pm – 6 pm
Live Healthy Gwinnett is hosting an interactive exhibit where attendees place small potted flowers into a large, framed grid to collectively build a living mural of an American symbol with 250 overlaying.

Star Spangled Spin Art – Saturday, August 1 from 12 pm – 6 pm
Spin a couple of minutes with UGA Extension – Gwinnett and create a masterpiece that you will want to keep for the next 250 years!

Programs at the Gwinnett County Historic Courthouse

Declaration Reading from the Historic Courthouse Turret – Saturday, August 1 from 1:30 pm – 2 pm
In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, join us for a powerful public reading of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence from the historic turret of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. Local community leaders, civic figures, and elected officials will lend their voices to this iconic document in a meaningful tribute to the nation’s founding principles.

Mock Signing Ceremony in the Courtroom of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse – Saturday, August 1 at 2:30 pm
As part of our America 250 celebration, guests are invited to witness a special mock signing of the Declaration of Independence inside the historic courtroom of the Gwinnett Historic Courthouse. Local celebrity guests will portray Georgia’s three signers – Button Gwinnett, Lyman Hall, and George Walton.

Ring 250 – Saturday, August 1 at 2:30 pm
Join us as bells ring across Lawrenceville and Gwinnett for 2 minutes and 50 seconds, uniting our community in a shared moment of reflection on 250 years of American Independence.

America at 250: The View From Here – Saturday, August 1 from 10 am – 6 pm
Created in honor of America250, this exhibition gathers student voices in a moment of reflection. Presented by the students of Gwinnett County Public Schools, these works explore how America feels, looks, and lives in the everyday experience – in neighborhoods, classrooms, landscapes, celebrations, and quiet moments.

Our Nation in the Arts – Saturday, August 1 from 10 am – 6 pm
Our Nation in the Arts is a dynamic showcase honoring the music, movement, stories, and stagecraft that have emerged from American culture over the past 250 years. Designed as a mini-festival experience, this afternoon celebration brings together multiple art forms into one continuous program on the Grand Stage.

Lawrenceville Symphonic Orchestra – Saturday, August 1 from 8 pm – 9:30 pm
After exploring everything the square has to offer, cap your night under the open sky with a special performance by the Lawrenceville Symphony Orchestra.
