While the County is utilizing tax-payer SPLOST funds to pay for the construction of the library, the Gwinnett County Public Library Foundation is engaged in a campaign to raise primarily programming funds that will be used to help the community pursue racial healing.
The Library Foundation has raised about 1/3 of its $3.3 million goal. The remaining funds to be raised will:
1. Create the Hooper- Renwick Programming Fund & Endowment and the convening of courageous conversations and educational programming;
2. Provide a robust Opening Day Collection & the start of an African American Heritage Collection to be made available at the new library;
3. Launch the Our Stories Oral History Project; and
4. Allow enhancements to the new library.
