The new Hooper-Renwick Memorial Library provides the perfect setting for the Gwinnett County Public Library to launch a Special Collection focused on African American Heritage. This Special Collection will consist of print and nonprint materials, including books, periodicals, digital resources, databases, and more about and related to Black culture, the Black experience in America, and Black achievements. Materials in the collection will reflect and honor the lives of African Americans with a special emphasis on books and materials by Black authors. Children’s books will be selected that allow children to see themselves in the pages of books.
This timely opportunity to make the library’s collection more inclusive and reflective of Gwinnett County is one the Gwinnett County Public Library Foundation is pleased to offer individuals, families, and business leaders in the community.
The new Hooper-Renwick Library would not be possible without the tireless work of the Hooper-Renwick Legacy Preservation Committee. Composed of graduates and friends of Hooper-Renwick, the Committee’s work has served as the catalyst and the continued energy for the new library. Your gift for the African-American Heritage Collection honors their work and celebrates everyone who attended Hooper-Renwick.
