Seed Library

The Seed Library is a community resource at Gwinnett County Public Library’s Grayson Branch, similar to our book collection, where instead of books that grow your mind, you check out seeds to grow your garden.

Checking Out

Browse the cabinet and explore the variety of seeds in these categories: fruits, vegetables, herbs, and flowers. You may check out up to three packets each week that pique your interest. Fill out our Seed Sign-Out Log so we can monitor our inventory and understand which varieties the Grayson community loves the most.

Take your seeds home, plant them on your windowsill, raised bed, or backyard, and nurture them to a healthy life. We encourage you to take photos of your thriving garden to share on social media and tag us @GwinnettLibrary!

Seeds are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Returns

You can help us sustain the Seed Library by “returning” seeds, but that process is a little different than returning a book! If you are able, let a few of your plants complete their life process and go to seed. Collect the mature seeds, dry them completely, and bring a portion back to the library to help replenish our stock for next season using our “Seed Return” envelopes.

Don’t worry if your plants didn’t make it to the seed-saving stage this year. There are never any “overdue fees” with the Seed Library. Gardening is a learning process, so just try again next year!
