Why Family Literacy Classes Matter

In a diverse and rapidly growing community like Gwinnett County, access to education is more important than ever. With more than 100 languages spoken and nearly 40% of households speaking a language other than English, many families face challenges navigating day-to-day and supporting their children’s education. This is where our Family Literacy Classes can be a huge support. 

Gwinnett County Public Library and Gwinnett County Public Schools already offer English classes, but demand far exceeds current capacity. By increasing the number of class locations and offering multiple learning levels, we aim to reach more families where they are. Family Literacy Classes will focus on English language learning, helping parents build their speaking, reading, and comprehension skills.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteers will help adult learners improve their English and build new opportunities at participating Gwinnett County Public Schools. No teaching experience is required, just a heart for service!

Volunteers will receive free training, and all training supplies will be provided.
