What Are The Learning Labs?
Our Learning Labs are collaborative spaces where you can experiment, innovate, and create digital content using our extensive range of tools and technology. Whether you’re wanting to learn more about technology, looking to expand your skills, or collaborate with others in the space, our labs offer the equipment and software you need to turn your vision into reality.
Community Makerspaces
At Gwinnett County Public Library, we believe that creativity knows no bounds. Our Learning Labs are community makerspaces located at many of our branches: Centerville, Duluth, Five Forks, Hamilton Mill, Lawrenceville Hooper-Renwick, Lilburn, Norcross, Peachtree Corners, Snellville, and Suwanee branches.
Our facilities are designed to empower individuals: from aspiring creators to seasoned professionals, to bring their ideas to life.
A Place to Design and Create!
In the Learning Labs, you can create and share music, podcasts, video, and photography content with our collection of audiovisual equipment. You can design digital and printable graphics for your business with our Wacom digital drawing tablets and the full Adobe Creative Suite. Make your cosplay dreams and product ideas a reality with our 3D printers, sewing machines, CNC machines, and laser cutters. Your imagination is the architect in the Learning Labs.
Learning Labs are exclusively reserved for customers wishing to use specialized equipment or software. Quiet rooms and meeting room spaces are also available for individual and small-group use.

FAQs
Why do I need to book time with a librarian to use some of the equipment?
Some of the equipment is more complex and requires setup and training first, in order to use it. Even if you’ve had training by our librarians for the equipment, we still ask that you schedule time using our Book A Librarian form to ensure the equipment is setup properly.
How much does it cost to reserve a Learning Lab?
It is free to reserve a Learning Lab with your library card. If you do not live in Gwinnett County, you can purchase a non-resident library card, which provides access to the Learning Labs and all of our other resources.
How much does it cost to 3D print? Do I need to bring filament?
I see that your 3D printer reservations are for two consecutive hours. Can I print something that takes longer than two hours?
Occasionally, we can accommodate a longer print. To inquire about this, please email learninglabs@gwinnettpl.org to ask about the feasibility of using the machine for longer. Otherwise, please finish your usage within the two hours so that other reservations are not impacted.
For sewing or Cricut projects, do you provide all of the supplies needed?
Other than some very basic white or black thread, you will need to provide your own notions, fabric, or other supplies for sewing or Cricut projects. Ask us which vinyl will best suit your Cricut project before purchasing items if you are unsure. Use of our Cricut Easypress and Autopress machines is free.
Can I book the Learning Labs for my online job interview?
To ensure access to our specialty equipment, the stations are not for general computing activities such as word processing, online interviews, or internet browsing. Learning Labs are not reservable for studying. There are Study Rooms dedicated for that purpose.
How do you afford all of this equipment?
The majority of our larger purchases are possible through generous technology grants or grants from the GCPL Foundation. We do take monetary donations through the GCPL Foundation!
