Education is Crucial

Did you know that in Gwinnett County, nearly 70,000 residents ranging in age from 18 to 64 have yet to graduate from high school? Statistics show that people without a high school diploma are almost twice as likely to live in poverty compared to those who have one. Moreover, a quarter of low-income working families with children include at least one parent without a high school diploma or its equivalent. This illustrates how crucial it is to educate these adults as a strategy to alleviate poverty.

We Provide an Opportunity

To address this need, we offer scholarships for the Career Online High School (COHS) program aimed at deserving learners aspiring to earn a high school diploma and enhance their career prospects. We pay special attention to individuals who, for various reasons, did not have the opportunity to complete high school, providing them a chance to rectify this through a flexible, online program.

Access to Certified Instructors and Online Learning Platform

Once accepted into the program, each COHS student is paired with an Academic Coach who provides continuous guidance, evaluates performance, and connects learners with necessary resources to understand course material. The program employs certified instructors and provides students 24/7 access to the online learning platform. The curriculum starts with subjects related to the students’ chosen career fields, progressing later to core academic subjects. Students can take advantage of transferred credits from previous high school experiences to potentially graduate within six months, but we allow up to 18 months to complete the program in total.

We Provide Everything Needed

The application process involves a prerequisite course, an interview, an orientation, and a trial period. Upon completion of these steps, students continue to build upon the prerequisite and trial period credits towards earning their diploma. Support for online access is provided if necessary, including if students don’t have a personal laptop or internet connection. We accept and encourage transcripts from previous schools, although they are not mandatory.

Invaluable Opportunity

The COHS program attracts students for a combination of personal and career-related reasons. It can be beneficial for women who are simultaneously guiding their own children through school, and those who are bound by daytime commitments at work or home. This offers an invaluable opportunity for Gwinnett County residents, aged 19 and up, to earn an accredited high school diploma and improve their career prospects and quality of life.
