Our Staff Stories

Tonya Aumack – Learning Labs Manager

With a background in education, Tonya had the intention of teaching German and English as a second language but quickly realized she is not a morning person. The library had just started to offer Book-a-Librarian services to customers when she began working at the Five Forks branch, the only branch, at the time, with a learning lab. As demand for help with lab equipment and software grew, so did the Learning Labs staff, eventually branching out to other locations.

Tonya is a big fan of the Glowforge because of its ease of use for customers, speed, and its ability to create professional-looking items out of a variety of materials.

Kate Delaney – Learning Labs Supervisor at the Five Forks Branch

With a background in nonprofit community arts programming, Kate spent the better part of a decade in galleries and art museums prior to switching over to library work. So, when Kate isn’t taking the reins and helping to keep the Learning Labs working like a well-oiled machine, she can often be seen leading sewing programs and assisting patrons with their sewing projects.

Kate’s favorite thing about the Learning Labs is that it provides library cardholders with an incredible array of creative technologies. In other words, this is not your grandparents’ library!
