We broke ground virtually on the construction of the new Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) branch in Norcross on August 17, 2020, via Facebook. We are very pleased to announce that we opened the Norcross branch on October 27, 2021.
The new branch is a replacement of the previously existing facility at 6025 Buford Highway. The new facility is located in downtown Norcross’ historic town core on a previously developed commercial site, within walking distance to a variety of retail shops, restaurants, civic and community institutions, and basic services.
The new facility is approximately 22,000 square feet of space, which allows the library to expand its programs and services to the Norcross community. It features bigger areas to provide computer services, creative projects, and interactive programming and services. It also has a large meeting room, three learning labs, multiple study rooms, and other features that the previous building was not able to provide.
Apart from being able to offer a dedicated space for teens, the building will also provide expanded service for adults called Open Access. Open Access allows customers 18 and older to use the libraries before and after regular operating hours, expanding user hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.
The Gwinnett County Public Library’s NEW Norcross branch is located at 5735 Buford Highway, Norcross, GA 30071.
GCPL will celebrate the opening of this new facility with the community on Saturday, November 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
