We broke ground virtually on the construction of the new Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) branch in Norcross on August 17, 2020, via Facebook. We are very pleased to announce that the project is close to completion, and that we are expecting to open the new branch in September, 2021.

The new branch will be a replacement of the existing facility at 6025 Buford Highway. The new facility will be located in downtown Norcross’ historic town core on a previously developed commercial site, within walking distance to a variety of retail shops, restaurants, civic and community institutions, and basic services.

The new facility will have approximately 22,000 square feet of space, which will allow the library to expand its programs and services to the Norcross community. It will feature bigger areas to provide computer services, creative projects, and interactive programming and services. It will also have a large meeting room, three learning labs, multiple study rooms, and other features that the previous building was not able to provide.

Apart from being able to offer a dedicated space for teens, the building will also provide expanded service for adults called Open Access. Open Access allows customers 18 and older to use the libraries before and after regular operating hours, expanding user hours from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day.

The Gwinnett County Public Library’s NEW Norcross branch will be located at 5735 Buford Highway, Norcross, GA 30071.

The closing date for the current Norcross location was Sunday, August 22, 2021.
