Garden Fest is Back!

Join Gwinnett County Public Library at our Grayson Branch (700 Grayson Hwy, Grayson, GA 30017) on Monday, May 2 through Thursday, May 5.

All-day programs will occur from 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm featuring guest speakers, live demos, and all things gardening.

This year we are again partnering with Live Healthy Gwinnett and their subsidiaries, Harvest Gwinnett and Be Active Gwinnett.

The Harvest Gwinnett initiative launched in 2019 and seeks to “connect community members through hands-on environmental education, plant fresh produce to improve resident food access, and nurture engagement opportunities leading to improved health outcomes…. In partnership with Gwinnett Parks and Recreation, Live Healthy Gwinnett maintains and operates three community gardens in Lawrenceville, Snellville, and Norcross.”

Be Active Gwinnett is a mobile activity bus that brings “opportunities for safe, fun outdoor physical activity to youth in underserved, play-desert areas in Gwinnett County, promoting healthy habits while advocating for positive youth development and awareness of your community resources.”

Outside presenters include:

  • Carol Hassell, Executive Director of Georgia Piedmont Land Trust
  • Francine Locke, Local Actress and Beekeeper
  • Lisa Klein, Master Gardener with UGA Extension

Other topics will include:

  • Heritage seeds, orchids, roses, and succulents
  • Family yoga, canning, healthy eating
