On August 21, 2020, we broke ground on the construction of the new Gwinnett County Public Library (GCPL) branch in Duluth. It was expected for the project to last a year to complete, and we are very proud to be very close to accomplishing that goal.

The new branch will be a replacement of the existing facility located on Duluth Park Lane. It will be located in downtown Duluth’s historic district, across from City Hall, contributing to a vibrant and growing city center. The new facility will have 22,000 square feet of space, which will allow the library to expand its programs and services to the Duluth community.

This new facility will feature bigger areas where library staff will be able to provide computer services, interactive programming and services, and creative projects. It will have a large community room, two learning labs, dedicated teen space, multiple study rooms, and other features that the previous building was not able to provide.

The building will also provide GCPL’s expanded service for adults 18 and older, called Open Access. Open Access allows customers to use the library after hours, from 8 to 10 a.m., and from 8 to 10 p.m. every day.

The Gwinnett County Public Library’s NEW Duluth branch will be located at 3180 Main Street in downtown Duluth across from City Hall.

The closing date for the current Duluth location is Sunday, April 18.
