Paperless Notification
As of September 1st, 2010, the library will no longer be sending paper mail hold and overdue notices. We will continue to use telephone notification for holds, but overdue notices will only be available if you are set up for email notification.
Why are we doing this? To save money. It costs us 58 cents to send a mailed notice, compared to 15 cents to send a telephone notice and less than 1/12th of one cent to send an e-mail notice.
How can you help us save money? Simple - give us your email address! Not only will you continue to receive all of the types of notices that you are used to receiving, like overdue notices, but you can also receive pre-overdue notices three days before your items are due so you can avoid late fees.
Overdue notices are sent only as a courtesy to you as a Gwinnett County Public Library cardholder. It is your responsibility to know when your library materials are due. Still, we'd like to continue extending this courtesy to you - and we'll be able to if we have your e-mail address.
Of course, there are other ways to keep up with your library account. You can check it by logging in through the My Account link at the top of all of our web pages. And you might also be interested in the Library Elf Alert Service which has some other options for notification.
