Summer Reading Program is fun for the whole family!
What is the Summer Reading Program?
It’s a fun and free way to encourage kids to read. Reading during school vacations helps maintain and even improve reading skills, and it’s fun! From May 22 through August 13, 2011, readers of all ages can set a goal, keep track of their reading activities, and collect great prizes. Look for special incentives and programs to keep the excitement going all summer long!
Who can join?
Anyone can participate in the Summer Reading Program. All ages are welcome to participate. A separate program for teens (rising 6th graders and up) is also available.
How do I sign up?
It’s easy! Beginning May 9, you may register online at www.gwinnettpl.org. Starting Sunday, May 22, you may also register at any of the fifteen Gwinnett County Public Library branches. Whether you register online or in-person, stop by any branch starting May 22 to pick up a registration packet with a reading record, sticker, bookmark, and coupons for free treats from local sponsors.
When am I finished?
Together, parent and child set a goal. Once the goal is reached, come into the library and collect great prizes! Kids will receive a Certificate of Recognition, coupons from local sponsors, and a free book (while supplies last). Don’t forget to enter the weekly drawings for a chance at additional prizes!
Will there be any special events?
Yes! Join us in June and July for preschool storytimes, programs for elementary school students, programs for teens, puppet shows, character visits, and special guest performances by artists, musicians, and entertainers. Travel the globe through stories, songs, games, and crafts about different world cultures. All programs are free and open to individual children and their accompanying adult (large groups are not permitted). Please check here for event details for kids and check here for teen events.
