Interested in finding information about your family's ancestors & create family tree.
 
Gwinnett County Public Library has foreign records in its two main genealogy databases Heritage Quest and Ancestry . Ancestry.com is accessible only in the library. Heritage quest database is accessible through the GCPL's Research and Homework webpage under the "Genealogy" heading. You will need your library card number, 4-digit PIN, and the current GALILEO password for remote access. The GALILEO password can always be checked through a link near the top of our Research and Homework webpage.
 
Ed2Go is a database which has Genealogy basics class. You need to request a passcode to have free access to courses. Enter your name, email address and library card number. The passcode will be generated and emailed to you. Gwinnett County Public Library also has book resources for genealogy. We have provided links to helpful resources that may be of interest to you.

What type of resources do you have that would assist me in creating a business?
 
GCPL has a variety of books, databases and websites that may be of use in starting a new business. Many of these materials may be accessed through the Library Guides located on our website. Gwinnett residents can see where and when various criminal activities have been reported at www.crimemapping.com. This is an interactive crime mapping that residents can access to see various criminal activities reported near their neighborhood or street address in Gwinnett County. Crime data is uploaded every 24 hours. You may also sign up for “Crime Alert”.

What is Access Video on Demand?

 
Access Video on Demand is a streaming video service with over 11,000 full-length videos available 24/7.  Customers can create accounts to save favorite videos and/or clips or simply click the play button and watch.  This service is free to library cardholders.  Check out what's available by using the provided link to our Research Databases.  Scroll to Videos and click the Access Video on Demand link.  Type in your library card number and PIN and enjoy!

In Gwinnett County what is the process for canceling the registration of a sold vehicle if not transferring to another vehicle.

 

According to the Gwinnett County Tax Commissioner's Office, you "may cancel your vehicle registration at any time; however, it is advised that you cancel your registration before you cancel your insurance policy. Your vehicle’s ad valorem taxes must be current, and there must not be any outstanding insurance lapse or suspension fees."  Please refer to the links below for more information.

How many civil war monuments are there in Georgia?

According to The New Georgia Encyclopedia's article on confederate monuments (link provided below and available through the Galileo databases), about 25 monuments were erected during the 19th century, more than 60 were built during the first two decades of the twentieth century, and around 30 were added between 1980 and 2005.

In the book "Georgia's Confederate Monuments and Cemeteries", written by Dr. David Wiggins, "Almost 140 different Georgia communities are featured, with many having multiple monuments to their Confederate men and women."
