Altered Book Art Turn your old books into a unique piece of art...
An altered book is a book that has been recycled by creative means into a work of art. They can be rebound, painted, cut, burned, folded, added to, collaged in, gold-leafed, rubber stamped, drilled, or otherwise adorned. There are no rules to altered book art.
Let your imagination soar for your "Unbound Treasure"!
Submissions accepted through the month of April at your library branch.
Judging for entries will take place in May. All entries will be exhibited at the Hudgens June 5th through August 25th. An opening reception, which is free to the public, will take place on June 9th.

Guidelines and Information -- Altered Books Competition
- Use any creative technique on an old book that is ready for recycling and design your work of art! (library books are not to be used for this contest).
-
Two categories:
- Adults 18 & over
- Students in grades 6 - 12
- GCPL and Hudgens employees are not eligible for prizes but may create pieces to be displayed if chosen as honorable mention.
- Winning entries will be displayed at the Hudgens Center for the Arts in Duluth.
- At the end of the exhibition period, artwork will be returned to the origination branch and artist will be notified to retrieve artwork.
