Books into Movies: Kid Edition

Lots of family films are planned for release in 2017, but you don’t have to wait for them to arrive on the big screen to enjoy these stories! Read the books that inspired the movies. Here are several books in our collection that will coming soon to a theater near you!

captain underpantsCaptain Underpants, set to be released March 10th is based on the popular series by Dav Pilkey about two boys who figure out how to transform their unsuspecting principal into an awkwardly dressed superhero. Hilarity and potty-humor ensues! This is a good series for reluctant readers as the humor and lots of illustrations keep the pages turning.

 

 

 

 

Diary of a Wimpy KidDiary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul is scheduled to hit theaters on May 19. This is a film adaption of another story in the on-going saga of middle-schooler Greg Heffley and his family. In this book, the Heffley family hits the road for a trip full of funny misadventures. This book by Jeff Kinney is part of a ten part series about Greg’s comical life.

 

 

 

 

jumanjiJumanji is a film from the nineties that is getting a makeover in December of 2017. In the original, elements of a board game were brought into the real world. In this new version, the kids playing the game travel to the game world. Before seeing the film, be sure to read the picture book that started it all, Jumanji by Chris Van Allsburg.
