Responsibility for Lost or
Damaged Materials Policy
Board Approved September 22, 2009
Implemented February 1, 2010
Board Approved Revisions January 18, 2011, Implemented February 1, 2011
Customers are responsible for taking care of the materials they check out and returning them in a timely manner so that others can use them.
If an item is lost, the customer is expected to reimburse the Library for that item or replace it with an exact copy in the same format and in excellent to new condition.
The Library recognizes that items do wear over time and heavy use; therefore a customer will not be charged for damage that can be attributed to normal wear and tear. However, customers are held responsible if an item is destroyed or so badly damaged that it can no longer be used, due to neglect or abuse.
A schedule of replacement costs for all formats the Library lends is reviewed annually by the staff to keep pace with changing prices and formats.
All payments for Lost/Damaged Materials are final. Once paid for, the item belongs to the customer. Refunds will not be issued for Lost/Damaged Materials payment(s).
