Extended Loan Fees

Extended loan fees are charged in order to encourage the prompt return of library materials so that they will be available for others' use.
Calculation of Extended Loan Fees:
Late charges accrue every day the material is overdue, whether the library is open or closed. Extended loan fees are not charged for days Gwinnett County schools are closed due to inclement weather if materials are returned the first day school re-opens.
Customer Exemptions:
Extended loan fees are not charged to customers over 65 years of age, Library Board members, Library staff members,Mailbox Books customers, and non-profit organizations.
Format Exemptions:
Fines are not charged on talking books available on deposit from the Gainesville Talking Book Center.
