Capitalization of Library Materials

June 10, 2002

Individual library books and materials under $5,000 (the Library’s fixed asset threshold) will not be depreciated but instead will be expensed in the period acquired.  If an individual library book or material is acquired for $5,000 or more, the item will be evaluated to determine if it qualifies as a depreciable capital asset.
