Holds & Requests for Materials
I want to request that a book, DVD, or other item in the collection be held at my local branch for me to pick up.
-
Use this option to request that a specific item be held for you.You will need to login to your account through the Catalog using your library card number and PIN.
-
Please note most new titles are added to the catalog 30 to 60 days prior to publication ("street") date.
-
This is a free service.
-
You may request up to 75 items at any one time.
-
You will be notified once your hold is available. GCPL will hold an item for 7 days once it becomes available.
I'm looking for a book that GCPL does not own, but I may be able to use books on the same topic that are already in the collection.Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Request
- We will help you find materials in the collection to satisfy your need.
- This is a free service.
- This option often provides a faster turn-around time than Interlibrary Loan for meeting your information needs.
I'd like to borrow an older book, but the library does not own a copy.Suggestions for the Collection
- You may request an ILL for print materials published more than 12 months ago that are not in the GCPL collection. You may also request microform, which must be used at the Five Forks Branch.
- We will notify you when the title arrives at your selected pick-up location or if we are unable to fill the request. It may take four to eight weeks for your ILL to arrive. Once an ILL arrives you have 7 days to pick it up.
- Before submitting an ILL request, we ask that you search the catalog by title, series, author, or ISBN to confirm that GCPL does not already have the title in the collection.
- Effective February 1, 2010, there will be a $2.00 per title fee charged for filled ILL requests to cover return postage. This fee is due at the time the item is picked up. The fee is charged regardless of whether or not you pick up the ILL.
I'd like to request that the library purchase a specific title.
