About Medline Plus 

MEDLINEplus, a service of the National Library of Medicine/National Institutes of Health, provides resources on common diseases and conditions, a medical encyclopedia and dictionary, directories for locating hospitals and doctors, information on prescription and non-prescription drugs, and more information of interest to the public.  

Content Includes: 

  • Health Topics: search by broad group, including disorders and conditions by body location and system, diagnosis and therapy, demographic groups, and health and wellness.
  • Drug, Supplements, and Herbal Information: browse medication information provided by American Society of Health-System Pharmacists, the United States Pharmacopoeia, and the Food and Drug Administration for details about drugs, supplements, and herbs.
  • Medical Encyclopedia: The A.D.A.M. Medical Encyclopedia includes over 4,000 articles about diseases, tests, symptoms, injuries, and surgeries. It also contains an extensive library of medical photographs and illustrations.
  • Medical Dictionary: Spellings and definitions of medical terms.
  • News: Health news from the past 30 days.
  • Directories: Find by location general and specialized doctors, dentists, and hospitals.
