Share Your Library Stories
We celebrate Love Your Library Week every year in April. This page gives you the opportunity to advocate for Gwinnett County Public Library in a different way.
In this time of great change, we think it is important to capture your library stories, so they will be remembered and retold. Library statistics will tell one part of the library’s past, present, and future story. Your experiences will tell the rest of it.
If you have a story about how a library experience made a difference in your life, we hope you will share it. Please place your name and email address on your comment. If your entry is posted, only your first name and last initial will be listed.
Thank you for sharing your library experiences with us.

Libraries Matter
Love the library
We visit every week as a family and often I come to the library with no destination in mind (as in what book I will choose) but I always leave with something wonderful. I don't know what I would do without the library, the bookstore doesn't quite measure up.
Technologically Savvy
Gwinnett's libraries are technologically savvy. The self-serve check out system is wonderful. I also like the email reminders. It wins hands-down over other public libraries in Georgia!
The public library is the
The public library is the most valuable resource for getting books that would normally be hard to obtain. I hope the libraries stay full of books and are able to add to their collections. Some of the librarians have left a positive, lasting impression. The friendliness some of them have can make such a difference in ones day. (A.C.)
Love of Libraries
People need a public place to go
Now that Borders books is closing and bookstores are on the brink of going away public libraries are more important than ever. A public library is one place that we can all feed our minds and take time out.
For all generations....
I have been reading the posts from this page and love everyone's comments. There are a lot of posts from moms about how much the library means to their beginning readers. I just want to say how important our Grayson Library is to all the generations of our family. When my kids were younger, they loved story time, etc. Now that they are nearly done with high school, the library is their "go-to place" for so many incredible resources. For my husband and me, the library is our life-line for information, fiction, on-line helps...you name it, we can find it at the library.
Thank you to Gwinnett County for working hard to keep our public libraries, and thank you to the hard working staff at the Grayson Library for all you do to help our community.
We'd be 'intellectually poor' without the library.
Books
The Best Summer
I watched as a librarian introduced a young girl to what may have been her first library book. In a voice loud enough for all to hear the girl said, "This is going to be the best summer, ever."
Then it got better.
She followed with, "This is going to be the best life, ever."
Need I say more about the value of the library and its librarians.

The library has had a
The library has had a positive impact in both my sons life and mine. If it werent for the library we wouldnt have had near as many books to learn from. His learning from the library started when he was just a baby. I would check out books to read to him, and it brought us many hours of together time, cuddle time, and memorable moments. I remember him getting up at 3a.m. wanting to read a book when he was just 2yrs old. Thank you libraries, for having books available.
Digital Library Lover
I am a digital library lover. While I can still appreciate a hardbook from Centerville branch, the digital library has made me a book junkie. I may download and listen to books all the time. I do a lot of book request online and it's great to know the book or disc is ready for me to pickup. I love saving time.
Perfect
Our Hamilton library is a perfect place to study for all ages. Quiet enviroment, many resources, helpful librarians.

We love our library!!
Our entire family is participating in the summer reading program this year! I just noticed this link to "Love Your Library" and read it as I clicked. My son immediately chimed in, "Oh Yeah! I love the library a lot!" Well, that sums it up! :-)
My Favorite "Mom" Story
Something Borrowed, Something New
Our library has opened a whole new world for me and my children. I can now boast a vast knowledge of trains, dinosaurs, the ocean, and garbage trucks (just to name a few things). How many 3 year olds do you know that can name every single part and type of garbage truck. I too have found wonderful books on parenting, faith, relationships and my favorite crime novels.
I understand the allure of the Kindle and Nook, but there is nothing like having your little ones turn the page as you read them a bedtime story or having a great feeling of accomplishment when you look at a 500 page novel and realize that you finished it in record time!
Thank you for allowing us to borrow a book or two so that we can experience a whole new world everyday!

Former Library Patrons
Librarians like to help and they like to search. I am proud to say that one former student from my public library went on to graduate from Harvard and Harvard Law School and another now works as a theoretical physicist at Berkely. Both of them were obviously smarter than me even way back when...but I like to think I helped a little bit along their way by connecting them with information they were seeking. I guess I knew them "when".
