 Museums and Art History:

Amon Carter Museum - The Amon Carter Museum in Fort Worth, Texas collects and exhibits the "finest examples of American art," including works by Frederic Remington and Charles M. Russell.

Art Institute of Chicago - The Art Institute of Chicago Museum houses more than 300,000 works of art, including 33 paintings by Monet.

The British Museum - The British Museum "exists to illuminate the histories of cultures" through its exhibits, programs and research.

The Louvre - Once the collection of the French royal family, the Louvre became the property of the State in 1848.  Today the Louvre lists almost 300,000 works, only a fraction of which are on display at any one time.

High Museum of Art - The High Museum of Art is Atlanta's premiere art museum, with permanent and visiting exhibitions.

Metropolitan Museum of Art - Founded in 1870, the collection now contains more than 2 million works of art from around the world, from ancient to modern times.  

Museum of Modern Art - "From an initial gift of eight prints and one drawing," the Museum of Modern Art has expanded to house more than 100,000 paintings, prints, photographs, films and design objects.

National Portrait Gallery - The National Portrait Gallery was founded in 1856 to collect the likenesses of famous British men and women.  Today the collection is the most comprehensive of its kind in the world.

The Smithsonian - Established 1846, the Smithsonian is composed of sixteen museums and galleries and the National Zoo and numerous research facilities.  The Institution holds more than 140 million artifacts in its trust.
